Foundations of Education​​​
Online/asynchronous with small group meetings

Starts: week of September 29, 2025
Introduces exceptionalities (disabilities) and related topics in the field of special education including definitions, prevalence, assessment, and intervention. Includes strategies for facilitating students' independence, learning, social connections, and self-advocacy skills. Will explore curriculum modifications, accommodations, and problem- solving strategies. Will introduce the Dignity Model in working with students, families, and schools. Specific meeting dates selected in class upon first meeting.
Curriculum and Assessment
Live Video Classes Thursday Evenings
Starts: Thursday, October 2, 2025
Focuses on designing appropriately challenging learning experiences based on curriculum standards and individual needs. Strategies for direct and indirect instruction, supporting self-directed and collaborative learning, and promoting critical thinking and problem solving through questioning. Promote student engagement and a positive learning climate will be explored. Candidates will learn how to select, design, conduct, interpret formative & summative assessment.
